Mother, Daughter Arrested for Shoplifting at Sears Store in Dearborn

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A mother and her 16-year-old daughter were arrested on April 15 at the Sears store located at 18900 Michigan Ave. after store security officers allege the duo attempted to shoplift more than $100 worth of clothing.

According to police reports, security cameras show the suspects enter the women’s junior section, select several items and go into a fitting room. When they left the fitting rooms, the suspects didn’t have the clothes they took in, but carried large shopping bags with items in them, police said.

Store security stopped the women and searched their bag after the women attempted to leave the store. Officers discovered several pairs of clothes matching the price tags store associates found inside the fitting room.

The mother was charged with larceny from a building and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and the teen was charged with third degree retail fraud.
