Mother Of Dearborn Heights Toddler Killed By Table Won't Sue Head Start

3-year-old Lilliana Jade Kerr reportedly died after a table structure fell on her during recess at her Dearborn Heights Head Start school.

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — The family of a 3-year-old girl allegedly killed by a falling table at her Head Start school has no intentions to sue the school, according to media reports.

Lilliana Jade Kerr was reportedly playing at recess in the gymnasium of herDearborn Heights Head Start school on Jan. 20 when a table-like structure fell on her. The toddler was transported to Oakwood Beaumont Hospital, where she was pronounced dead due to her injuries.

Lilliana's mother, Tabatha, has reportedly not told Lilliana's twin sister and 9-year-old brother what happened to their sister, the Detroit Free Press reports. The family's attorney, Gregory J. Rohl, reportedly said there are no plans to file a lawsuit against Head Start. Speaking at a Jan. 23 press conference, Rohl relayed "the Head Start people say they'll do the right thing by the family, and I'm going to take them at their word."

The case remains under investigation and grief counseling has been made available to staff and students at Head Start.

A Go Fund Me account created to help pay for Kerr's funeral has received donations totaling $26,715. Also, there will be a charity all-you-can eat spaghetti dinner to benefit Kerr's family at Walkers Speakeasy (8701 N Beech Daly Rd., Dearborn Heights) on Jan. 27 from 11:00 a.m. until closing. Bands and DJs have offered to donate their time and there will be a raffle.
