Old Car Festival, Affordable Care Act Seminar Top Events in Dearborn

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your week in Dearborn.

Schools across Michigan begin a new academic year this week. Take a look at some other events going on around Dearborn this week.

1. Last day to swim

Dearborn’s outdoor pool season comes to an end at 6 p.m. on Sept. 2, Labor Day, with the closing of Dunworth and Ford Woods pools. Both pools will be open on Labor Day from noon to 6 p.m.

2. Music Under the Stars

Come to the Dearborn Hills Golf Course on Sept. 5 to hear Fifty Amp Fuse perform at 7:30 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy.

3. Auditions for Dearborn Symphony

Auditions will be held Sept. 3 at Wayne State University, Old Main Building from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., or Sept. 4 and 5 at the University of Michigan School of Music from 6:30 to 11 p.m. For more information, email kathy@dearbornsymphony.org.

4. Old Car Festival at The Henry Ford

This Old Car Festival weekend, take in the spectacle as the streets and grounds of Greenfield Village are filled with the sights, sounds, and smells of hundreds of authentic vehicles from the 1890s through 1932. For the 61st year The Henry Ford will celebrate Henry Ford’s 150th birthday with a rare line-up of all the Ford “letter cars” from 1903 to 1932. The event takes place Sept. 7-8. 5. Affordable Care Act training seminar

Join the members of ACCESS in Dearborn at 10 a.m. Sept. 7 for a brief education seminar on the new healthcare laws. At the end of this one-hour session each participant will be presented with a "Get Covered America" certificate of achievement. Join "Get Covered America" and ACCESS staff and volunteers as they canvass neighborhoods immediately following the training session teaching neighbors about the new healthcare options coming their way. The event takes place at 2651 Saulino Court in Dearborn.
