14-Year-Old Michigan Boy Dies While Moving Gun: Sheriff
Police say a man told the teen to move the gun when he fatally shot himself in the chest.

PONTIAC, MI — A 14-year-old boy is dead after he was reportedly asked to move a handgun and shot himself in the chest in the 100 block of Willard Street in Pontiac July 9. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said a 20-year-old Pontiac man had the handgun under a mattress and reportedly asked the 14-year-old to move it from the bed to another location when it went off and struck the boy.
The man transported the teen to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. It is unclear for the man and teen knew each other.
The man was lodged at the Oakland County Jail and the incident is under investigation.
