METRO DETROIT — Snow is returning to the metro Detroit area and much of southeastern Michigan, according to the National Weather Service.
Widespread snow showers are expected to move into the region Friday afternoon along a weak cold front, according to the weather service.
Forecasters expect 2-3 inches of fresh snow in the metro Detroit area by Saturday morning. Areas farther north and in the Thumb region will see less snow, roughly an inch or two, according to the weather service.

Any lingering snow showers should fade away by Saturday morning when temperatures climb toward 30 degrees across southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.
Another round of light snow is possible across southeastern Michigan on Sunday night before more arctic air moves into the region by the middle of next week, according to the weather service.
