According to prosecutors, around 4:30 p.m. Friday, Romulus Police officers responded to the report of an armed robbery that was still in progress inside a vehicle in the 9900 block of Wayne Road in Romulus.

When officers responded to the area, they ordered three men out of the vehicle, prosecutors said.

Johnson and Williams drove the vehicle away after the victim got out of it, prosecutors said. The pair drove the vehicle directly at one of the officers at the scene, forcing the officer to jump out of the way to avoid being struck, prosecutors said.

The two then sped away before crashing into a carport a few block away, prosecutors said. When they got out of the vehicle, the driver pulled a weapon and fired two shots at a police officer, prosecutors said. The men then fled into a wooded area before being arrested, according to prosecutors.

Johnson and Andrews were arraigned Sunday before 34th District Court Judge Brian Oakley. Probable cause conferences are scheduled for 11 a.m. May 27, also in 34th District Court.

Bail for both of the accused is set at $1 million.
