2 Detroit Men Accused In Cheyenne Street Murder

Prosecutors said the accused following the victim to his home and killed him.

DETROIT, MI — Two Detroit men have been arraigned on felony charges in connection with the July 28 killing of a 31-year-old Detroit man.

Matthew Lamar Williams-Brockman, 24, and Devonte Dalvin Kenney, 22, both of Detroit, were arraigned Thursday before 36th District Court Magistrate Joseph Boyer.

Williams-Brockman is charged with first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of felony firearms. Kenney is charged with assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm and three counts of felony firearms.

Wayne County prosecutors said that Detroit police officers were called to the 16200 block of Cheyenne Street around 1:46 a.m. July 28 following the report of an assault in progress. When officers arrived, the officers found the 31-year-old victim's body with a gunshot wound in the backyard of a home, prosecutors said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said the accused followed the victim to his home and killed him. More information will be placed on the record during future court hearings, prosecutors said.

Williams-Brockman and Kenney are both scheduled for probable cause conferences set for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13. Preliminary examination in the case is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 20.
