Baby Falls Through Floor, Drowns In Basement Sewage
The mother and her friend have been charged with manslaughter and child abuse in the 11-month-old's death.

DETROIT, MI — An 11-month-old girl died in Detroit this month after falling through a hole in the floor and drowning in standing water and sewage in the basement, authorities said. The mother, 26-year-old Dasiah Jordan and her friend, 28-year-old Tonya Peterson, have been charged in the death of Ca’Mya Davis.
First responders reportedly found the baby not breathing at their home in the 15000 block of Ferguson Street around 11:30 p.m. July 6. According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, Jordan reportedly left her daughter in the care of Peterson “in an unsafe home and went out to visit friends.”
The baby reportedly “roamed the house unattended,” when she fell through the hole in the floor and drown in the basement. Authorities say both Jordan and Peterson were “aware of the hazardous and unsafe condition in the bedroom.”
