Bomb Threats Reported Around Metro Detroit

METRO DETROIT, MI — Dozens of bomb threats are being reported across the country at news outlets, government buildings, banks, libraries, schools and other businesses across the country on Thursday afternoon, including around metro Detroit.

In downtown Detroit, the Guardian Building at 500 Griswold Street and the Wayne County Treasurer's Office at 400 Monroe Street received bomb threats, WDIV reported, but an all-clear has since been given.

According to WDIV, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office said a bomb threat was sent via email in Ann Arbor and L’Anse Creuse High School- North was also threatened, though students had already dismissed.

“We are aware of the recent bomb threats made in cities around the country, and we remain in touch with our law enforcement partners to provide assistance,” the FBI in Detroit said. “As always, we encourage the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities which could represent a threat to public safety.”

The Chicago-area has also been hit with threats. Bomb threats have also been emailed to businesses in Massachusetts, Orlando, Oklahoma, San Diego, San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale, according to multiple reports.

A bomb threat was reported at Columbine High School in Colorado, but the threat turned out to be unfounded, police said.

Another bomb threat was reported at a school in New York City, NBC reported.
