Detroit HS Shifts To Online After Pipes Burst, Flooding Classrooms
Students were expected to remain online for the next two months as crews repair classrooms that were damaged by the floods, officials said.β

DETROIT β Southeastern High School in Detroit shifted to online learning after pipes burst during the holiday break and flooded the building, causing extensive damage, according to Detroit Public School officials.
"We regret to inform you that the building experienced excessive flooding and water damage due to broken water pipes over the (holiday) break," school officials said. "The flooding damaged the majority of classrooms. The building will require extensive repairs and restoration."
Students were expected to remain online for the next two months as crews repair classrooms that were damaged by the floods, officials said.

Parents can pick up laptops for their children on Tuesday and Wednesday with online learning starting on Thursday, officials said.
School staff will continue to distribute meals to students twice a week. Students can pick lunches on Tuesday and Thursday for the first week, then on Mondays and Thursdays during the following weeks, officials said.

The high school's athletic programs will continue with a modified schedule since the gym was not damaged by the floods, officials said.
There are about 550 students at Southeastern High School.
