Detroit Public Schools Calendar For 2024-25: Key Dates To Know

DETROIT — Summer is almost over for Detroit students. The first day of school in the Detroit Public Schools Community District is Monday, Aug. 26.

Here are some of the important 2024-25 school year dates to get on the calendar:

Start date: Monday, Aug. 26

Family-teacher conferences: Oct. 9 (High Schools), Oct. 16

Professional development day, no school: Sept. 11, Sept. 25, Oct. 23, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, Jan. 8, Jan. 22, Feb. 5, Feb. 26, April 2, April 23, May 7 and May 21.

Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 5

Thanksgiving break: Nov. 27-29

Winter break: Dec. 23 to Jan. 5

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school: Monday, Jan. 2

Mid-Winter break: Feb. 17-25

Presidents Day: Monday, no school: Feb. 17

Family-teacher conference: March 12 (High Schools), March 19

Spring break: March 24-29

Last day: June 10
