Detroit Public Schools Releasing Students Early Due To Hot Temps
High temperatures are expected to hit the 90s with heat indices climbing toward 100 degrees Monday, according to forecasters.
DETROIT — Some Detroit students will get out of class early this week as thousands of students around metro Detroit return to school this week.
All students within the Detroit Public Schools Community Schools District will be released three hours early Monday and Tuesday due to dangerously hot temperatures, according to district officials.
"We will monitor the forecast to determine extending the early release to Wednesday and make that decision tomorrow evening," district officials said in a statement. "Please check your email for a breakdown of each school’s regular start time for students and the 3-hour early dismissal time for the next two days."
