Ill DTW Passenger Hospitalized During Coronavirus Scare
The Detroit Metropolitan Airport is one of 11 airports screening passengers for the coronavirus. Here's what we know about one ill traveler.

METRO DETROIT, MI —An ill passenger has been taken to a local hospital for more testing by federal health officials after being screened at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. DTW is one of 11 U.S. airports screening for the new coronavirus when passengers are ill mid-flight and have been to China recently.
It is not clear what illness the passenger is suffering from, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conducting thorough testing, health officials said.
"We have confirmed that a person has been transported to a local hospital designated to receive passengers identified by CDC for additional testing," the Wayne County Public Health Division said in a statement Tuesday evening. "The process, outlined by the CDC, dictates that samples are sent to CDC with a turn around time for test results in at least a 48-hour period. We cannot provide any additional information at this time, for privacy and safety reasons."
