WINDSOR — Excitement surrounding the Detroit Lions has crossed borders, as fans in Windsor gear up for an incredible light show over the Detroit River.

The Lions-themed light show will light up the sky above Windsor's waterfront, near the Riverfront Festival Plaza along the Detroit River, at 7 p.m. Friday.

The show will consist of hundreds of drones with LED lights that will create a stunning visual performance cheering on the Lions.

"The City of Windsor is thrilled to be partnering with the Detroit Lions, Tourism Windsor Essex, the Downtown Windsor BIA, and many stakeholders to celebrate the Detroit Lions – Windsor’s unofficial football team – with this exciting drone show," Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens said in a news release. "We thank the Detroit Lions for this generous gift to our community, and for ensuring Canadian fans can join in the excitement of these playoffs."

Fans in Detroit will also be able to see the stunning show, though some images and words may appear flipped. The best spots to see the show in Detroit will be in the downtown areas, Midtown and Belle Isle.

Forecasters are expecting snow Friday afternoon in Detroit, and that could impact fans' chances of seeing the show.

The Lions (15-2) are coming off their best season in franchise history and earned a first-round bye in the playoffs.
