Man Shoots Himself After Kidnapping Wayne County Teen: Reports

DETROIT — A man shot himself inside a Detroit home Monday after kidnapping a teen girl, according to multiple news reports.

A man in his 40s, befriended the victim, a 13-year-old Garden City girl, on social media, Fox 2 Detroit reported.

He then met the teen in person, picked her up, and took her to a home on Penrod Street near Warren Avenue in Detroit Monday morning, according to reports.

The teen's family contacted police, and when officers showed up at the house, the man ran to a room in the back of the house and shot himself, according to reports.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, while the teen was reunited with her family, according to reports.
