Michigan Coronavirus Cases Reach 75,000 Wednesday
The state surpassed 75,000 cases of the coronavirus Wednesday after adding more than 500 new cases of the respiratory virus.
MICHIGAN — The state has more than 75,000 cases of the coronavirus after adding more than 500 new cases of the respiratory virus on Wednesday.
Michigan health officials reported 523 new cases of the virus Wednesday, bringing the state's case total to 75,248. The state added six deaths due to the virus as well, bringing Michigan's coronavirus death toll to 6,141.
Wednesday's update follows the state reporting nearly 600 cases of the virus Tuesday, adding 573 new coronavirus cases and nine new deaths attributed to the virus. The state coronavirus website reports that more than 55,000 people in Michigan have recovered from the virus.

Michigan ranks 13th in the U.S. in coronavirus cases, according to data provided by the World Health Organization. The state ranks seventh in the nation in coronavirus deaths.

The World Health Organization reports that the U.S., which leads the world in coronavirus cases and deaths attributed to the virus, has posted more than 4 million cases of the respiratory virus. The virus has killed 145,000 people in the nation, while nearly 1.9 million people have recovered from the virus.
More than 15.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported around the world, according to the World Health Organization. The group reports that over 622,000 people have died from the virus worldwide. Nearly 9.2 million people have recovered from the virus.
