Numbers are sometimes altered as public health officials investigate individual cases. Case numbers sometimes do not match numbers provided by respective counties due to several variables, including testing done by private organizations that report to either the state or the county but not both.
Deaths are reported by health care providers and recorded by local health departments. Other data, such as the number of individuals who have recovered at the state level, are released on Saturdays.

Michigan Economic Impact
The coronavirus has taken its toll on Michigan's economy. From large businesses to small businesses, from state employees to local municipalities, the effects have been felt across the board. Additional updates on how the coronavirus' impact has been felt were announced Thursday, as Oakland County announced closures to its water parks for the rest of 2020 and the state took measures to address a need for health care workers.
In Oakland County, the parks and recreation department said Red Oaks Waterpark in Madison Heights and Waterford Oaks Waterpark in Waterford will not be open due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
"Social distancing cannot be achieved by swimmers in a wave pool or other water attractions," the department said in an online announcement. "Oakland County Parks and Recreation made this decision with input from the Oakland County Health Division."
Meanwhile with a need for health care workers to battle the coronavirus, the state launched a new health care jobs portal as the need for people who can provide coronavirus care continues to rise.
The coronavirus health care jobs portal features more than 7,000 openings for positions including registered nurses and licensed professional nurses, among others.
