METRO DETROIT — After a few mild days, wintry weather is retuning to metro Detroit this week.
Light snow will move into the metro Detroit area Wednesday morning, before transitioning into rain during the afternoon hours when temperatures climb toward 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters do not expect any accumulations across metro Detroit, but light accumulations are possible toward areas around Interstate 69 and the Thumb region, according to the weather service.

A stronger snow pattern moves into the metro Detroit area late Thursday and into Friday morning, according to the weather service.
Forecasters said early data shows up to 2 inches of fresh snow could fall in the metro Detroit area by Friday morning, according to the weather service.

It will also get colder in the metro Detroit area as the week progresses. High temperatures will be in the 20s with single digit wind chills by Friday and through the weekend, according to the weather service.
