MSP: Man In Custody Following Shooting In Inkster

The severity of the victim's injuries is unknown, police said.

INKSTER, MI — One person is in custody following a shooting in Inkster Tuesday afternoon, according to Michigan State Police.

Police said a man was taken into custody after fleeing from the scene of a shooting on New York, near Princess. The victim was a man who police said suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital by EMS, police said. Their condition was not released by police.

After responding to the crime scene, the Michigan State Police K-9 unit was called to search for the suspect, who had been seen running from the area, police said.

According to police, a suspect matching the description provided by witnesses was seen entering and then quickly leaving a residence in the area. Troopers attempted to make contact with him at which time he ran on foot, police said.

The man was caught and placed into custody, police said.
