Non Fatal Highway Shooting On Westbound I-94: Man Injured

A Non Fatal Highway Shooting Has MSP Investigating Who Shot And Injured A Man Traveling Westbound On I-94 This Morning

DETROIT, MI-- At around 3 a.m. on Dec. 7 troopers from the Metro South Post and Second District Special Investigation Section responded to westbound I-94 near Gratiot Ave. for a possible shooting on the freeway.

In the preliminary investigation it was revealed that a male driver from Chesterfield was driving to work when an unknown vehicle pulled alongside and began to fire shots at his vehicle. The driver was struck in the leg, continued to exit the freeway stopping at a gas station and notified the Detroit Police. The driver was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Michigan State Police was contacted by the Detroit Police once the incident was confirmed to have happened on the freeway. Troopers closed 1-94 at 6:30 a.m. until 7:58 a.m. but were unable to locate any evidence. The investigation is ongoing and witnesses are urged to contact the Michigan State police with anything they may have seen.
