SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — A wintry mix is expected across southeastern Michigan Wednesday as seasonal temperatures return to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect a mix of rain and snow to move into the region during the afternoon hours when highs climb toward 40 degrees, according to the weather service.

Areas along and north of Michigan 59 are more likely to see snow mixing in with the rain, leading to a slushy accumulation up to an inch, according to the weather service.

Metro Detroit areas south of Michigan 59 will likely see just rain, perhaps a quarter inch through the evening hours Wednesday, according to the weather service.

Highs across southeastern Michigan will slightly warm back up with another chance for rain Thursday, before more seasonal temperatures return this weekend.
