LANSING, MI — The state is considering a ban on guns inside the Capitol following the armed protests of hundreds last week, according to reports.

The Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday that the Michigan Capitol Commission is seeking legal advice on whether guns should be banned inside the Capitol. A decision, the Free Press reported, could come as soon as Monday.

Discussion over the ban was prompted by demonstrations last week in which hundreds of people, some armed and wearing bulletproof vests, made their way inside the Capitol to protest Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's stay-home order.
