Severe Storms Possible Across Detroit Area Tuesday: What To Know

There is a marginal risk (level 1/5) for severe weather across the region.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are possible across southeastern Michigan on Tuesday as temperatures remain hot and humid, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect the strong storms to develop sometime between 2 and 10 p.m. when highs reach the low 90s with even higher heat indexes.

The storms will be capable of producing damaging winds reaching up to 60 miles per hour, torrential downpours and frequent lightning.

More showers and storms are possible Wednesday across the region, though they are not expected to be as widespread, the weather service said.

Temperatures will remain warm, but with less humidity through the rest of the week, the weather service said.

Highs will return to the 90s this weekend, the weather service said.
