The major storm is expected to move into the area Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, according to the weather service.

As of Monday morning, forecasters expect the widespread storm to dump at least 6 inches of fresh snow across the southeastern Michigan region, according to the weather service.

Some areas along the Ohio border may see rain and sleet cut into those snow totals, according to the weather service.

Forecasters also warned the heavy snow will significantly affect Thursday's moving commute in the area.

While all eyes are on Wednesday, a few showers are expected to move into the southeastern Michigan area Tuesday afternoon with temperatures in the upper 20s, according to the weather service.

Another round of snow is likely to hit the region Friday night and into the first half of Saturday, according to the weather service.

Wednesday: Snow; High 28, Low 23
