Snow, Frigid Temps Welcome 2026: Metro Detroit Weather
Wind chills could fall to as low as -2 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
It will be a cold and snowy start to the new year across the Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow showers are expected to move into the area Wednesday afternoon just as an arctic blast brings sub-zero temperatures, the weather service said.
Forecasters also warned snow squalls, short, intense bursts of snow, could hit parts of the region and reduce visibility to near zero at times. They expect roughly 1 to 2 inches of fresh snow by nighttime.

Temperatures will fall into the single digits Wednesday night with wind chills dropping to as low as -2 degrees across the region, the weather service said.
The sub-zero wind chills will stick around through New Year's Day before temperatures slightly warm back up into the 20s Friday, the weather service said.

The cold air will linger into the weekend, though no snow is expected.
