TCF Center Treated 39 Coronavirus Patients In 4 Weeks: Report

The TCF Center was transformed to treat up to 1,000 coronavirus patients in early April. Since then, it cared for 39 patients.

DETROIT, MI — Since being adapted to serve as a temporary field hospital in the wake of the new coronavirus pandemic, the TCF Center in Detroit treated 39 patients before officials put the center on pause, according to recent reports.

MLive reported the center treated a total of 39 patients in the nearly four weeks it was operation. The hospital maxed out around 24 patients at its high water mark for those treated at one time, according to MLive.

The outlet reported that while the low number may make it seem as though the hospital wasn't as necessary as originally believed, the number falls in line with what has been seen across the country.
