Wayne Co. Parents Face Felonies After Son Shoots Daughter: Worthy
Prosecutors said the child was shot by her 4-year-old brother after he found an unsecured handgun belonging to a relative of his parents.
WAYNE COUNTY, MI — Two Wayne County parents face felony charges after their 4-year-old son shot their 5-year-old daughter in July, prosecutors announced Monday.
Jonclaude Norwood Sr., 27, and Melissa Ann Kiser, 27, both of Redford Township, were arraigned Monday morning in 17th District Court on two counts of second-degree child abuse, according to prosecutors.
“All of these cases are tragic," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "Young, precious lives are being forever altered and even lost, and we can absolutely prevent this. If you choose to have guns in your homes, please make sure that children and teens do not have easy access. It is that simple."
