Obituary: Faye Lynne (Brown) Wiseley

Faye was born to the late Verl C. Brown and Clara Belle Simons on Aug. 28, 1942, in Hudson, Mich.. She is survived by her husband Jack of 52 years, her children: Charles (Zuzana) Wiseley of Chelsea, Kathy (Martin) Fletcher of Dexter; and six grandchildren, Albert, Greta, Griffin, Brady, Carter, and Georgia Faye.

Faye Wiseley was a native of Hudson, Mich., and she and Jack were longtime residents of the Dexter area. Her death came after a 10-month fight with cancer.

Although Faye had a long history of charitable work, one cause in particular really hit home: Faye and Jack Wiseley were the local organizers of the Pride and Honor Flights, a charity effort that took World War II veterans on trips to see that war's memorial in Washington, D.C.

During the five years, 28 trips were taken from southeast Michigan, serving 1,700 veterans at no cost. Their efforts resulted in being voted Citizen of the Year by the Ann Arbor News in 2008.

Faye was an active leader throughout her life, always in her glory when making arrangements for some kind of celebration. She loved planning family reunions, spending hours in the kitchen baking with her grandchildren, and was often referred to as the glue that brought the family
together.

Faye’s life will be celebrated at the Red Brick Restaurant, 8093 Main St. in Dexter on Jan. 13 from noon to 3 p.m.
