Ann Arbor Man, 25, Killed in Scio Township Crash

Dillon Orion-Dorje Ptaszek died of injuries at the crash scene, police said.

A 25-year-old Ann Arbor man was killed in the early morning hours Friday in a tragic crash on westbound I-94.

The driver and single occupant of the vehicle was identified as Dillon Orion-Dorje Ptaszek, according to a press release from the Michigan State Police - Brighton Post.

Around 2:20 a.m. Sept. 13, troopers from the Brighton Post were dispatched to a one car, fatal crash on westbound I-94 at Wagner Road in Scio Township, the release states.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling westbound on I-94 when he left the roadway for unknown reasons. Ptaszek’s vehicle struck a construction light generator and then overturned several times, police said.

According to the report, the vehicle subsequently caught fire and became fully involved while Ptaszek was still in the vehicle. Ptaszek died of injuries at the crash scene, according to police.

Ptaszek was driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and was wearing his seatbelt. He is the son of Washtenaw County Sheriff Department Undersheriff Mark Ptaszek.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police - Brighton Post are conducting a crash investigation.
