22-year-old Motorcyclist Killed In Oakland County Crash: Police

Investigators believe speed played a role in the crash.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A motorcyclist was killed in a Monday crash in Oakland County, according to police.

The crash happened at 3:45 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Northwestern Highway and 14 Mile Road in Farmington Hills, according to police.

Officials responded to the area after receiving numerous 911 calls reporting a motorcyclist had crashed into a car, according to police.

When officers arrived, police said they found the motorcycle rider and began to provide first aid until the medics arrived.

The 22-year-old man of West Bloomfield Township was taken to Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital where he died, according to police.

The driver of the car was not injured in the crash and is cooperating with investigators, according to police.

Investigators believe speed played a role in the crash, which was still under investigation.

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss," Farmington Hills Police Chief John Piggott said. "As the weather warms and we see an increase in motorcycle activity, we urge all riders to wear helmets, use reflective gear and obey speed limits. Drivers are urged to stay alert, check blind spots and avoid distractions to ensure everyone’s safety."
