Employees and visitors at Robert Bosch LLC on Hills Tech Drive in Farmington Hills were evacuated Wednesday, shortly before a 1:45 p.m. press event.
Farmington Hills Fire Department responded to one of the buildings on the campus, because of a small fire in a lab where engine dynomometer testing was happening. A company official said the fire was small and quickly extinguished, but caused quite a bit of smoke.
"Our priority was making sure all our associates were safe," company president Mike Mansuetti said.Â
Later, company officials accepted the Clean Corporate Citizen Award from the Michigan Dept. of Environmental Quality for its facilities in Farmington Hills, Plymouth, Novi and Flat Rock. The award recognizes Bosch's commitment to environmental stewardship.Â
