Semi Truck Rear Ends Car On I-696 In Farmington Hills, Killing 2: Cops

The freeway is expected to be closed for multiple hours while state troopers investigate the scene, officials said.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — Two people were killed and two others were rushed to the hospital after a Thursday morning crash in the westbound lanes on Interstate 696 at Orchard Lake Road, Michigan State Police said.

Police said a 57-year-old semi truck driver could't stop for traffic on the freeway and rear-ended a Buick LaCrosse. The impact caused a chain reaction in which three other vehicles were hit, officials said.

The driver and passenger in the Buick LaCrosse were killed instantly, police said. Two other drivers were taken to a nearby hospital and were expected to be ok, officials said.
