Farmington Hills Business Hosts Pet Food Donation Drive

Aleta Sill's Bowling World in Farmington Hills has launched a year-end food and supply drive to help fill the empty shelves at The Animal Care Network, a division of the Michigan Animal Adoption Network, based in Pontiac.

Donations may be dropped off at the business, which is located inside Country Lanes, 30250 W. Nine Mile Road. Most needed items include:

The Animal Care Network outreach program visits the streets of Pontiac and Inkster every single day rescuing dogs and cats, doing wellness checks and offering assistance to pet owners with indoor and outdoor pets. Volunteers make 100 to 200 stops every week, install straw in dog houses for dogs living outdoors and offer public education. The organization also provides financial aid for spaying and neutering.

"When the economy is struggling, non-profit organizations are directly affected and these are some of the programs that are vital to the community in such tough times," said Pam Porteous, Animal Care Network manager.
