Farmington Hills Offers Summer Theatre Camps
Camps are open to both beginners and seasoned young actors and offer kids the chance to experience acting on a real stage.

From the City of Farmington Hills: The City of Farmington Hills Cultural Arts Division offers a full range of high-quality theatre camps at the Players Barn Theater located at 32332 Twelve Mile Road. Camps are open to both beginners and seasoned young actors and offer kids the chance to experience acting on a real stage.
Presented by the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre, each of the camps is taught by professionals in the field of stage and commercial acting. Each camp features different theatre curricula and concludes with a performance on the Players Barn stage. Groups are divided by ages and grades and provide a great opportunity for team-building for the participants.
All camps, unless otherwise noted, run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday to accommodate a performance. Aftercare is available for most camps for an additional fee.

Little Stars is a half-day camp specifically created for 4 and 5-year-olds. Participants will be engaged in drama techniques, music, storytelling, movement, and games. The camp runs June 19 through 23. Campers may register for the morning session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or the afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A final performance will take place on the last day of camp, within the morning or afternoon sessions.
Rising Stars is for youth entering Grades 1 to 3 and is a great camp for becoming more comfortable performing. Participants will be engaged in drama techniques, music, storytelling, movement, and games. This camp has two sessions: June 16 through30 and August 14 through 18. A performance will take place at 6 p.m. on the final day of each camp. Take one or both weeks for an even more fun-filled summer theatre experience!

Total Drama Camp is for youth entering Grades 4 to7 and Grades 8 to 10 and is a non-musical, fun-filled theatre camp that focuses on memorization, character analysis and development, expression, physical acting, and improvisation. Participants are also the creators as they spend the week writing and directing their own play, which is performed at the end of the week. This camp has two sessions: July 10 through14 and again July 24 through 28. A performance will be offered at 6 p.m. on the final day of each week’s camp. Take one or both weeks for an even more fun-filled summer theatre experience!
InterACT Musical Camp is for youth entering Grades 4 to7 and Grades 8 to10 and is a high-energy exploration of the musical theatre genre with singing, acting, and choreography. Beginners as well as more seasoned youth actors will equally enjoy this fun-filled camp. This is a two-week camp beginning Monday, July 31 and running through Friday, August 11. Campers will perform a 60- minute musical on Friday, August 11 at 6 p.m.
Act it Out! Acting Intensive is for youth entering Grades 4 to 7 and Grades 8 to 10 and takes acting and auditioning skills to a higher level. This three-day camp does not include a performance, but teaches ways to control your nerves and channel self-confidence for future endeavors. Whether you’re looking to audition for the upcoming Farmington Hills Youth Theatre fall production or just looking for ways to feel more confident with public speaking, this camp is a surefire way to boost those skills. This camp is held from Wednesday, July 5 through Friday, July 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Register early to secure your spot. Most camp offerings are full-day camps for grades 1 to 10 and range in price from $145 to $465, with a discounted rate for Farmington/Farmington Hills residents. Aftercare is available for most camps from 4 to 6 p.m. for an additional fee.
