Major Freeway Closures In Oakland County This Weekend

Two major Metro Detroit freeways will have closures this weekend in Oakland County, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — Two major Metro Detroit freeways will have closures this weekend in Oakland County, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Westbound Interstate 696 will close from Telegraph to Interstate 275 in Southfield and Farmington Hills for pavement repairs and shoulder widening. The highway will close at 8 p.m. Friday and be closed until around 5 a.m. Monday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Drivers will be rerouted to southbound Telegraph Road, then westbound 8 Mile Road to westbound Michigan 5 and back to westbound Interstate 696/Interstate 96, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Eastbound Interstate 96 from Kensington Road to Beck Road in Novi and Wixom will be reduced to one lane from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Then the freeway will open back up to two lanes from Kent Lake Road to Wixom Road, with ramp closures at Kent Lake, Milford and Wixom roads from 5 p.m. Saturday through late fall, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
