The 2013 Miss Farmington pageant will be held on July 17 at the Farmington Civic Theater. Registration was open to all girls between the ages of 14 and 18 who live or attend school in the Farmington Public Schools district, and nine contestants applied, and Miss Farmington 2012 will crown the winner.

Reigning Miss Farmington, Elena Pavlicas, will be a senior at Harrison High School in the fall. Although she has enjoyed many different aspects about this year, her favorite events inlcude the charity event she did for the Backpack Program at Lanigan Elementary School and the daddy-daughter dance at the Costick Activities Center.

“It was really fun to spend time with all of the little girls. I got to lead a conga line and dance with all of them,” Pavlicas said.

Pavlicas will crown the next winner at this year's pageant.

“It’s kind of bittersweet. I’m sad to give up my crown, but I’m going to be excited for whoever wins,” said Pavlicas.

When it comes to giving the other girls advice, Pavlicas emphasized how important it is to be yourself and have fun, she said.

“I would tell this year’s winner that just because you’re wearing a crown, does not mean you’re royalty. It means that you’re loyal to your city. The crown is more of a representation of loyalty than royalty,” Pavlicas said.
