Meet Miss Farmington Candidate Sydney Perry

Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch profiles candidates who will participate in the July 17 pageant.

The 2013 Miss Farmington pageant will be held on July 17 at theFarmington Civic Theater. Registration was open to all girls between the ages of 14 and 18 who live or attend school in the Farmington Public Schools district, and nine contestants applied. Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch introduces you to them in this series.

Sydney Perry

Sydney Perry will be a sophomore at Farmington High School where she participates in color guard. In addition to spinning her flag, she likes watching TV and hanging out with her friends. This will the first time she has competed in a pageant, and her family and friends plan on coming to watch her on stage.   

“I saw Miss Farmington getting ready before a parade once, and she just looked like she was having so much fun, so I really wanted to be a part of it,” Perry said.

Having a brother with special needs, Perry believes she can offer some unique qualities to the local area, she said.

“I have a strong understanding of certain aspects and people of the community,” Perry said.

Perry has dedicated a lot of time and energy into the pageant ever since she became a part of the Miss Farmington program, she said.

“The first day we learned how to walk in heels, I took a two-block walk around my neighborhood with my friend in heels to practice. My feet hurt bad after, but I’ve gotten a lot more used to it,” Perry said.
