More Lane Closures On I-696 In Oakland County: What To Know

A busy stretch of Interstate 696 in Oakland County is closing to allow crews to prepare for major construction, according to officials.

SOUTHFIELD, MI — A busy stretch of Interstate 696 in Oakland County is closing to allow crews to prepare for major construction, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Two eastbound lanes on Interstate 696 between Michigan 10 (Lodge Freeway) and Lahser Road will close down Saturday from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. to remove pavement markings, according to officials.

Two more eastbound lanes on the freeway between Michigan 10 (Lodge Freeway) and Lahser Road will close Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to shift traffic onto the left lane and outside shoulder, according to officials.

The northbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) ramp to eastbound Interstate 696, and the southbound Michigan 10 (Lodge Freeway) ramp to eastbound Interstate 696 will be closed during the closure, according to officials.

During the closure, eastbound traffic will be detoured to southbound Michigan 10 (Lodge Freeway) to northbound Lahser Road, then back to eastbound Interstate 696, according to officials.

Northbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) will also be detoured to Michigan 10 (Lodge Freeway) to northbound Lahser Road, then back to eastbound Interstate 696, according to officials.
