Police Officer David Glowacki Retires After 32 Years of Service
Officer Glowacki's career and retirement were celebrated with family and friends during a ceremony held on December 16, 2016.
From Farmington Hills Police: Farmington Hills Police Chief Charles Nebus is honored to announce the retirement of Officer David Glowacki after more than 32 years of service to the community. Officer Glowacki’s career and retirement were celebrated with family and friends during a ceremony held on December 16, 2016.
Officer Glowacki began his career with the Farmington Hills Police Department on January 18, 1984. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Eugene Glowacki, who was a police officer with the Detroit Police Department and retired in 1978. Prior to beginning his career with the Department, Officer Glowacki earned an Associate’s Degree in Police Administration from Henry Ford Community College in 1981 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Madonna University in 1983.
For nearly 33 years, Officer Glowacki served honorably as a uniformed patrol officer assigned to the Patrol Division. During this time, he worked as a Field Training Officer and was responsible for training and mentoring new officers. His service and commitment to the Department and Field Training program was highlighted in 2006 when he was recognized for his part in helping to train 18 new officers hired by the Department that year.

Officer Glowacki’s service and commitment to the public are evident from the list of accomplishments and awards he earned throughout his career. This list includes 22 department awards including one Merit Citation, one Chief’s Citation, two Life Saving awards, five Citations, two Professional Service awards, seven Unit Citations, and four Letters of Appreciation. In addition to the Department awards, Officer Glowacki received countless letters, cards, and notes from citizens expressing their appreciation for his compassion and professionalism.
According to Officer Glowacki, it was always his choice to work the streets as a patrol officer in order to work closely with the public and serve them to the best of his ability. While Officer Glowacki expressed his appreciation for all of those he served and also for those he served alongside during his career, it was everyone who worked with Dave that considered it an honor and privilege to have worked with such a great officer and person. Chief Nebus, on behalf of the entire City and Department, expressed his appreciation for Officer Glowacki’s years of service and wished him all the best in his retirement.
