Snowplow Driver Charged In Deadly Oakland County Hit-And-Run Crash: Police
The crash happened on New Year's Day.
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A snowplow driver has been charged in connection with a deadly Oakland County hit-and-run crash that happened on New Year's Day, according to police.
Officers found a 68-year-old unconscious man lying along Middlebelt Road near Eldon Street in Farmington Hills at 8 a.m. last Thursday, according to police.
They identified the man as Edward Detroit, who was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to police.

Bryan Derryberry, 51, was charged with failure to stop at the scene of a serious injury accident. He was released from jail after posting a $100,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 16.
If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

Investigators determined Detroit was struck by an Oakland County Road Commission snowplow truck, which never stopped. They said Derryberry, a 3-year employee of the RCOC, was driving the truck at the time of the crash.
"The quick resolution of this case is testament to the hard work of our investigators and support from the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office," Police Chief John Piggott said. "We’re hopeful this arrest and prosecution will bring some measure of closure for the family of the victim as this matter now moves into the judicial system."
