Mister Rogers' Sweater Drive

The Genesee District Library has started a Mister Rogers' Sweater Drive it will run through Nov. 30.

People have been encouraged to bring sweaters for children and adults to one of the 19 Genesee Area District Library locations around Genesee County, including Jack R. Winegarden Library in Fenton.

The sweater drive is a play off the show "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," which aired on PBS from 1968 to 2001.  The show featured host Fred Rogers, who was known for wearing a variety of sweaters.

His show was known for its programming aimed at young audiences, as well as the opening to every episode where Rogers entered his home and put on a trademark sweater, asking the audience "won't you be my neighbor?

The Genesee District Library hopes this image will bring people out to donate old sweaters for a good cause this holiday season.
