Fire Destroys Home on Dalhart Drive in Fenton Township

Firefighters battle blaze for more than an hour, but no one is injured.

A fire destroyed a home on Dalhart Drive in Fenton Township Monday morning.

There were no injuries reported and officials were unsure of the cause.

The received a call about heavy smoke from a home at 12090 Dalhart Drive just before 10 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters witnessed flames through the roof. Officials believe the blaze might have started in the attic at the rear of the house.

β€œI went outside to clean my yard and saw a lot of smoke,” said neighbor Lauren Pawlowski.

Firefighters battled the blaze for more than an hour before putting out the flames on the roof, which eventually caved in.

The resident, who said he lived at the residence for six years with his brother, declined to give his name. He said he had left for work around 7 a.m.

Firefighters rotated in fighting the blaze in the extreme heat.

Pawlowski and fellow neighbor Angie Schwiuntek provided cold towels along with ice tea and water.

β€œWe just asked them if they needed anything and tried to help out,” Pawlowski said.
