The is just around the corner.

On July 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., merchants and artists will participate in the second-year event, and officials are hoping hundreds of residents will join the fun in downtown Fenton.

Visitors will be able to come to a booth in downtown Fenton (just outside ) and receive a map, which will include instructions along with artist and merchant information. People then can visit participating businesses to observe the art, meet the artists and explore what each store has to offer.

Residence: Davison

Type of Work :Β  Full-time middle school English teacher for Davison Middle School and part-time writer of three novels.

How did you get started as writer?Β  The idea of writing a book came to me about 8 to 10 years ago, but it wasn't until a series of circumstances that I finally had a combination of a story idea, time to write, and motivation to write.Β  Once those three things came together for me, I began hammering out my first novel and finished it in the summer of 2009.Β

Describe your books:Β  My books are suspense/mysteries.Β  They are all part of what I call the Clay and Tanner Thomas series.Β  Clay and Tanner are father and son, and they have para-psychological abilities that result from a nearly identical brain injury at childbirth.Β  They use their abilities in Loving the Rain to stop a criminal in Flint. from seeking revenge on their family.Β  In Skeleton Key, the two men solve a seven-year-old mystery of a suspicious disappearance of a man after a train wreck in Durand.Β  In Bulletproof, Clay and Tanner solve two mysteries in Fenton.Β  One is a string of robberies where there are no clues left and the other is the mystery of the death of the caretaker at the 11 years earlier.Β  In both the Durand and Fenton books, there are ghosts whose mysterious deaths are solved.Β  Tanner is an athlete, so there are some sports in the books.Β  All contain humor, suspense, and unexpected endings.Β  The books can be read "stand alone" though there are common characters in each.

What is your next project?: I plan to write more books in the Clay and Tanner series, but my next project is to be a four-book series called The Time Travelers.Β  Each book will have a unique story about a time-traveler, but they will be complete stand-alone books until book four when my three time travelers meet for a final adventure.Β  I expect the stories to include lots of action and suspense and humor.Β

Where can your books be found?: All the books are available on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Jeff+LaFerneyΒ Β  They can be purchased off my page on my publisher's website http://www.worldcastlepublishing.com/author-jeff-laferney.html.Β  There are links on my own website http://jefflaferney.com/. They are on Barnes and Noble too.Β  Finally, for people in Fenton, they are for sale in Fenton's Open Book, and I'll be in Fenton during the on July 4, the Bastille Day Art Walk on July 14, and the Fenton Farmer's Market on July 19 and August 16.
