Oakland County Child Killer Investigation Reaches Fenton

New evidence in the Oakland County Child Killer case and person of interest Arch "Ed" Sloan has led officials to investigate mutiple leads and places, including Fenton.

Sloan's parents moved to a Fenton farmhouse in the 1980s before Sloan was sentenced to life in prison in 1983 for sex crimes, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Tricia Sample lives there now, and said she was shocked to learn Sloan's family once resided there and to find handprints with the Sloan name in concrete on the property, according to WXYZ-TV, Channel 7 News.

“My kids are freaked out. My kids are totally freaked out. My son is 10, he doesn’t even want to come home,” Sample told WXYZ.

She said investigators had visited the home on mutiple occasions, the article stated.

Sloan, 70, is serving a life sentence for sex crimes at the Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility in Muskegon Heights. Investigators recently matched hair from two Oakland County Child Killer victims to hair found in Sloan's 1966 Pontiac Bonneville. Sloan is not a suspect in the case, but has been named a person of interest by police.

“It is believed that Sloan would allow others to use the 1966 Bonneville as well as the other described vehicles,” Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper said according to the Oakland Press.

“Investigators are looking for information concerning any other people who may have used this car or who had access to any of these vehicles.

“Finding anyone like this who turns out to be the donor of the hair may be the key to solving these two murders.”
