Thieves Steal from Oakwood Cemetery Grave Site, Woman Invites Burglars Into Her Home

A woman told police someone took two large cement planters that were more than 100 years old and worth more than $400 from a grave site at Oakwood Cemetery.

Chief Rick Aro said a woman reported she visited a relative’s grave site around 10 a.m. July 23 and found the planters missing. She reported that had last been seen July 11.

Police have no suspects or evidence.

Home Invasion

Police are searching for suspects in a theft after a man told them his wife invited two men to take items from her home, but claimed they took more than the items agreed upon.

Aro said her husband told police two men were picking up scraps from the trash at the end of driveway on the 700 block of Elmwood Drive around 5 p.m.  July 30 when his wife told the men she had some other items they could take in the basement of their home.

The man reported his wife brought the men into the basement and told them to return the next morning to pick up the items. The man told police he believes the men returned at a time later than was agreed upon and broke in when the homeowners weren’t home and took the agreed upon items as well as $3,000 in amplifiers and a power supply.

Aro said the couple described the suspects as in their late 50s, one with a beard and said they drove a station wagon.

Police have no suspects and encourage any with information on the suspects to contact Fenton police at 810-629-5311.

Retail Fraud

Police arrested a 40-year-old Flint woman after they said stole $330 worth of merchandise from the .

Aro said store security called police after they recognized a woman who had been asked not to return to the store because of prior shoplifting incidents.

Aro said the woman, who was with her two children, paid for some items at the store, but when police confronted her outside the store, she had $330 worth of unpaid food and merchandise in her truck.

Police found she had other outstanding warrants for retail fraud and she was sent for arraignment, while her husband picked up the children.

Missing drill

A 53-year-old Fenton resident reported his $120 rechargeable drill missing from his home on the 1000 block of Parallel Street Aug. 2, police said.

Aro said there were no signs of forced entry and police have no suspects.

Missing coins

A man reported a $2,200 coin set missing from his home on the 500 block of Dauner Haus on Aug. 1, police said.

Aro said the man told police he had moved to the home in December, but had been in the hospital and when he finished unpacking, he found the 1991 10^th Anniversary Panda Coin Set missing from a box that was above his kitchen cabinets.

Police have no suspects and are checking local pawn shops for the coins.
