Leafblowing incident leads to assault charge while gun-wielding girlfriend breaks up fight.

A Macomb Township man is in jail after assaulting his neighbor over leaves blown into his yard.
According to a report in the Detroit News, a 52-year old man was blowing leaves with a leafblower when his neighbor, Jerry Thomas Ficht, 57, approached him Thursday, Nov. 5, and accused him of blowing leaves into his yard.
Ficht allegedly assaulted the man next, leaving him with a bloody ear, and on the ground, by the time Macomb County Sheriff deputies arrived.

According to police, the fight ended quickly when the victim’s girlfriend stormed out the mobile home with a handgun and warned Ficht she would shoot him if he didn’t stop hitting her boyfriend.
Police added the woman was licensed to carry the weapon, and the gun was registered.

Ficht was arrested and charged with felony assault with the intent to commit great bodily harm. Bond was set at $10,000 cash/surety.
