Detroit Fleat’s Beer And Board Games Goes Kid-Friendly

Sundays, Ferndale's food truck court hosts Beer & Board Games with ice cream and kid prizes to make it a family affair.

Ferndale’s Detroit Fleat, a food truck court that opened in 2017, is hosting a weekly board game and beer night Sundays. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., anyone who’d like to sample food truck treats and play a board game or two is welcome. There’s also beer for grownups, and an ice cream cart, kids’ menu and treasure chest for the little ones.

According to Detroit Fleat, the event now features a self-serve ice cream cart, and children can choose a free toy from the treasure chest, so they’ll be occupied, even if they can’t be tempted by the board games.

While food trucks are famous for their indulgent, high-calorie treats, the standing menu at Detroit Fleat offers both temptations like fried smoked sausage bites and a buttermilk friend chicken slider, there’s also healthier fare like house-made jerk chicken tacos and a chickpea patty slider. Sliders are two for $7, as are tacos, so feeding a family at game night won’t break the bank.

If you don’t see anything you crave on the standing menu, the food trucks permanently stations at Detroit Fleat have you covered. There’s Delectabowl, offering stews and soups, as well as “a craft loaded potato menu.” Pita Post offers Mediterranean classics, and the Mac Shack, for “specialty topped mac n cheese and fries.” Detroit Fleat is located at 1820 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale. Beer & Board Games is free. Well, the board games are. Beer will cost you.
