Ferndale Officer’s Charity Record Buys 14,000 Meals

Police Officer Brendan Moore's Christmas CD for Forgotten Harvest raised enough money to buy 14,000 meals.

Police Officer Brendan Moore’s holiday CD to benefit Forgotten Harvest earned enough in sales that the charity was able to feed 14,000 people, the charity announced via Twitter. A post to Forgotten Harvest’s Twitter account shows the Ferndale officer presenting checks to the charity Feb. 27.

Moore’s CD, “Christmas in Detroit," isn’t his first time in the singing spotlight. In 2014, Moore won the Brave National Anthem contest, a singing competition sponsored by CoMerica Bank. Moore won the $10,000 prize, a grant for his police station, and got to sing the National Anthem before two Detroit Tigers games.

The $10 CD helped Forgotten Harvest, a Detroit-based food charity, provide over 14,000 meals. Forgotten Harvest provides assistance to 250 Detroit Metro agencies, including emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, children's homes and homeless shelters. The charity operates in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
