Police: Ferndale Homeowner Shoots at Home Invader

The intruder fled in a stolen silver Ford Ranger with a red logo on the door that says "Oxbow," police said.

A Ferndale homeowner reportedly shot at a person trying to break into his home on Friday morning, according to Ferndale Police.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Friday, a homeowner on Edgewood Place near Eight Mile and Woodward discovered that his home was being attacked by an unknown person, Ferndale Police Lt. Gary Whiting wrote in a press release.

The homeowner fired his handgun at the suspect, who fled to a waiting stolen 1997 silver Ford Ranger pickup truck with a red logo on the door that says "Oxbow." The Michigan license plate number is CB89913.

The truck may have been struck by the bullets fired by the homeowner, police said. The vehicle was reported stolen in the city of Livonia and was used in another crime in the city of Troy on Oct. 18. Oxbow is the name of the company the truck was stolen from.

It is unknown whether the suspect was struck by the bullet, police said.
