Flint gives $80K to complete tiny housing village for veterans, first of its kind in Michigan (mlive.com) — Flint is putting $80,000 in federal stimulus funds toward finishing the first four tiny homes in Catholic Charities’ Sacred Heart Village for unhoused veterans on East Moore Street. The 24-home village, anchored by a Veterans Resource Center, will offer up to three years of transitional housing at no typical monthly rent, aiming to model new affordable housing solutions across Michigan.

Flint residents urge school board to preserve more of historic Central High (mlive.com) — Flint residents and alumni are pressing the school board to preserve more of historic Central High as plans move forward for the city’s first new high school in about 50 years. At the same meeting, officials confirmed Southwestern High will stay closed until January for boiler repairs, prompting teacher concerns about safety, communication, and emergency protocols.
   

3. People line up at the Genesee County Housing Resource Center as demand for housing grows (midmichigannow.com) — Flint and Genesee County are facing a severe affordable housing shortage, with an estimated deficit of 7,000 units and waits that can stretch up to a year. The Genesee Community Health Center and Housing Resource Center on West Fourth Avenue are overwhelmed as they try to place people and keep them housed. Help is first-come, first-served, and residents can call 810-600-4525 for assistance.
   

4. Former Flint Flight Instructor Pleads No Contest to Filming Women in Restroom (wcrz.com) — Residents should know that a former flight instructor at Bishop International Airport in Flint has pleaded no contest to secretly recording women in an aviation school restroom at a private hangar. He faces multiple felonies, with at least one year in Genesee County Jail and possible additional prison time when he’s sentenced in February 2026. Victims are speaking out for accountability and justice.
   

5. Family mourns Flint native murdered in Warren, suspect livestreamed aftermath (midmichigannow.com) — A grieving Flint family is mourning 29-year-old Mucari Finley, a Flint native killed in a stabbing in Warren after meeting someone for a blind date, with the aftermath allegedly livestreamed on Facebook. Relatives remember him as a kind, ambitious chef and are pleading for the disturbing online videos to be removed as the suspect faces a first-degree murder charge.
